Green Seattle Partnership launched in 2005 with a 20-year strategic plan that describes the challenges facing Seattle’s forested parklands, provides a vision for restoration of the forest, and includes a roadmap for the Green Seattle Partnership to mobilize neighbors and resources.
In 2017, we updated the strategic plan to summarize the programs’ evolution and successes, identify opportunities for additional progress, and outline how to achieve our priority objectives.
Now, we are working with our partners, other City departments, and Seattle communities to develop a 3 to 10-year strategic plan*. This strategic plan will:
- Be informed by our partners and community
- Summarize our evolution and the direction we are heading
- Evaluate our programs
- Outline our priority focus areas
- Be actionable and contain community-based strategies to reach our desired outcomes
*The timeframe of the final strategic plan will be determined by Phase 2 of the process (see below)
The Strategic Planning Process
The development of our strategic plan will take place through five phases that will last from Spring through Fall of 2025. We aim to roll out a final strategic plan by mid- to late-Fall.
The phases are as follows:

Opportunities for Engagement
We’re engaging our partners, city departments & staff, and community members throughout the strategic planning process, including insight and information gathering, visioning and planning, review, and roll-out.
As we begin Phase 1, we welcome everyone to complete this survey and share your perceptions about Green Seattle Partnership’s programs, focus areas, and identity.
The survey will close at 11:59pm PT on Friday, April 16, 2025 and is available in Amharic, English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
