Plant Collection Permission
Before you collect any plant material on Seattle Parks’ property, you will need to obtain permission from the Sr. Urban Forester.
For Green Seattle Partnership related permission requests, please send an email to
Rory Denovan (rory.denovan@seattle.gov). Please include the following information:
1) Location of plant material you wish to collect. (Park name and description of site)
2) The date and time you plan to collect
3) The species (or genera) you wish to collect
4) The type of plant material (e.g. live stakes, seed, etc.)
5) The quantity you wish to collect
6) How and where the plant material will be propagated
7) Where the propagated plants will be planted
Rory will route your request to appropriate staff.
All plant material collected from a Seattle Park must be replanted on Seattle Parks’ property. We ask that you only take 10% of any population, unless it is a situation where the plant material is going to get cut anyways (e.g by the slope mower).
Please use THIS tracking sheet and protocols posted on line and turn into Rory Denovan.
Do NOT collect any Threatened or Endangered species. You will be fined!
