Monitoring

Monitoring photo 1The NEW Green Seattle Partnership monitoring protocols will help the program to identify the health of our natural ecosystems and assess the impact of restoration activities on those natural areas.

Forest Stewards are encouraged to collect the data at new restoration sites as a baseline assessment of their sites, as well as following up after the work has been done.  Stewards can read the monitoring protocols and collect the information themselves, or contact rory.denovan@seattle.gov to receive assistance from the Volunteer Monitoring Team.

Forest Stewards will record a core set of forest health parameters including invasive and native plant species, density of trees and percent cover of vegetation.

The monitoring protocols were created with supportive funding and in partnership with the US Forest Service, State and Private Forestry, Urban and Community Forestry.
