Volunteer Event: Carkeek Park: EarthCorps CLIMATE ACTION WEEK Event!

Date & Time

Saturday, November 1, 2008
10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Event Description

EarthCorps, Esurance, the Green Seattle Partnership and Weber Thompson present this exciting Climate Action Week event! Climate Action Week (formerly “Carbon Offset Day”) will take place on November 1-8, 2008. We plan to lead volunteers at up to 10 restoration sites in Federal Way, Kirkland, Mercer Island and Seattle. The educational aspect of the week focuses on reducing the carbon footprint of food by taking such simple and delicious steps as eating locally-grown produce, focusing more on fresh greens and less meat, as well as energy-saving tips for the kitchen. More information will be at www.climateactionweek.com starting on September 1.

Located in North Seattle, Carkeek Park is one of the city's premier natural areas. Carkeek Park offers spectacular views of Puget Sound; over six miles of trails; stream, beach and forest habitat; and ample opportunities for natural exploration and recreation. Carkeek Park is also home to Piper's Creek, an important waterway for spawning salmon.
