8/14 Ravenna Park

You may have driven right over Ravenna Park and never realized that it was there! Hidden in a ravine that stretches under 15th Ave E, lies 50 acres of park complete with a gorgeous creek and tons of tall, tall trees. Ravenna Park has been in use as a park since the 1880s when visitors paid 25 cents to marvel at the giant Douglas fir that called the park home.
These days, we are working to preserve this hidden oasis. Invasive plants like English ivy are threatening to overtake the trees and other native plants in the park. Our projects will include working to rid the park of invasive plants. Come help us keep Ravenna Park beautiful by saving the forest we have and clearing area for native plants to spread!

Meet at the Kiosk. It is north of NE 55th St. near the intersection with 25th Ave NE.   As you look into the park from NE 55th Street, you will see a ballfield and beyond that the kiosk. 

You will be most comfortable if you wear layers of clothes, and sturdy shoes, that you don’t mind getting  dirty.  Bring water. Tools and gloves will be provided.
